Hi Dawn - Yes, you can certainly paint the aluminum trim on your windows. Just be sure to wash the window frames with detergent, rinse (scrub brush if necessary) and allow to dry 48 hours before applying a primer. An exterior metal paint is recommended, and some sites recommend using a self etching primer first (available in aerosol cans from auto paint suppliers). This web site gives a step by step rundown for painting aluminum trim.

I have 14 yr old Anderson double hung windows which work great. My problem is that the aluminum trim does not match the color of our vinyl siding. Is it possible for me to paint them, if so, what must I do to ensure that the paint will successfully adhere. permanently?

Hi Ryan - Sorry to hear about your screen problem. I did find this web site: Screen Depot, which offers some helpful tips. A good resource for these types of questions is your local Lowes or Home Depot, in the window department. Good luck!

i have a casement window in the front of my house. The side screened areas were tore so i re-screened them. But now when they are in, if the middle of the screen is pushed on it will flex the sides of the frame inward and actually release the lock mechanism. What can i do to resolve this issue or where can i go to get a replacement frame and screen. thanks, Ryan
