The link in the third paragraph under the History of the Banquet section - 'a bench and tabletop' is linking to an old version of the webpage, but is being forwarded to the correct page. You may want to update the link. Thanks!

Denise, Sounds like you might need a designer to help you with the math, but the ideal size for the table is probably as big as you can make it while still being able to comfortably seat people around it and make it possible to move around the table without too much trouble. Best of luck!

I have an 8' wide X 13' long dinnette with an 8' wide 21" 3-window bay at the far end. The opposite end of the space is the entrance to the kitchen so I woulod like to keep the furniture at the far end where the bay is. I'd like to build a curved/angled banquette in the bay and place a round antique pedestal table in front of the seating with chairs opposite the banquette seating. Should I extend the banguette seating to the side walls toward the center of the table. I'd like the table to accept leaves (making it oval) and accomodate as many people as I can comfortably when extended. How do I determine the ideal diameter of the table top?

Good article! Another idea is to use salvaged kitchen cabinets for the base of the banquette.

Also, it appears you have the wrong link associated with the Better Homes and Gardens heading. Clicking on that link takes you to the Retro Planet site which in listed in the section below.
