Hi Van,

If the door was not painted ever then it will have a "powder" that will scrub off when it is washed. If this is the case then it needs the fungus bleached off, the door cleaned well, and then primed and painted properly.

If the door is painted and the "shedding" is actually paint chipping off chances are the door was not painted correctly in the first place. In this situation you have the option of stripping the paint off and repainting it. Depending on what the original painting problem was...it might be easier to simply buy a new door blank and paint it correctly from the start. If the door has a mold or fungus growing problem oil based paint is the best choice.

It is hard to know exactly what the problem is with out a picture & better idea of what was done.

I have a fiberglass garage door. How do I maintain it. The door seems to be shedding when I scrub it with dish soap (It has fungus on it).

Looking at the Better Homes and Gardens website, I don't think they did a contest in 2007 and there's no indication they're doing one in 2008, either.
