Corian is basically a plastic (they call it resin) countertop, while Silestone and other quartz countertops are manufactured rock. They are heavier, harder, usually more scratch and heat resistant than Corian, but some say Corian is easier to repair. It's really a matter of preference more than performance.

I have Corain (SP) and hate it. what is the defrence between Corain and stilston?

According to BobVilla.com, quartz countertops are made by grinding the stone, combining it with bonding agents and color, heating and compacting it, then putting it into a mold under pressure to make the countertop shape.

Consumers like myself would like a laymans description of the quartz manufacturing process, such as the various ingredients,the process to form the finished materials,etc. Is it processed with heat, in a furnace, etc. Could you send me a reply to my inquiry?
